Threads started off "strong", but has to prove it's not just a "summer crush" to compete with Twitter
How could the Digital Markets Act be related to the absence of the Threads social network in the European Union? Pedro Rebelo Tavares, in an article for the Observador, clarifies the possible relationship between the Meta decision and European Union legislation.
“The Digital Markets Act legislation is frequently pointed out, by the international press, as the main reason for the absence of Meta’s social network in the European Union. The lawyers interviewed by the Observador seem to agree with this hypothesis, although they emphasize that the technology company never mentioned “specific diplomas”. “It’s highly possible that the Digital Markets Act and the Digital Services Act legislation, due to profound changes that they bring out in the regulatory framework of the digital sector, are a preponderant factor” for Meta’s decision, considers Pedro Rebelo Tavares.”
