Criminal and Regulatory Offences

The Criminal and Regulatory Offences area stands out for its vast experience and specialisation in monitoring criminal cases that have already been opened, as well as providing prior and preventative advice. The team ensures constant monitoring at all stages of the criminal process, whether it be an enquiry, pre-trial proceedings, trial or appeals.

In the area of criminal law, in which we emphasise economic and financial crime, we also deal with other types of crime. Criminal Litigation also has a transversal, supportive role in the firm’s other practice areas.

In addition to preventive counselling, we currently provide:

▪️ Preparing and presenting the right to a hearing and defence, drafting written defences, applications, witness interviews, court challenges, trial hearings and appeals in relation to administrative offences by ASAE, IMT, GNR, PSP, ANSR, IGAMAOT and the Regional Entities of Madeira and the Azores, as well as regulatory bodies;
▪️ Defining defence and prosecution strategies in criminal proceedings, with a focus on economic and financial crimes (fraud, corruption, abuse of trust, swindling, tax crimes, among others) but also domestic violence, cybercrime and crimes against people and property in general;
▪️ Study, implementation and monitoring of compliance programmes designed to provide clients with the necessary means to comply with legal and regulatory requirements, with the aim of eliminating risks and preventing liability.
