April thousand rights, (in)equality inside and outside the home

Two generations, a father who lived on April 25th as a law student and a son who was born into a very different reality regarding women's rights, take stock of the impact that the Carnation Revolution had on women's fundamental rights.

On April 25th, the signatory, Almeida Correia, was “caught” at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra (FDUC), where he was studying, among other subjects, family law, in a sociopolitical reality very different from the one we live in today.

Now, although the 1933 Constitution formally enshrined the principle of equality, materially, with regard to women, there were many limitations, namely and in particular, to married women.
