Contractual dispute between FC Barcelona and FC Zenit regarding the player Malcom Oliveira
In August 2019, FC Barcelona agreed to sell player Malcom Oliveira to FC Zenit of Saint Petersburg, for a whopping 40 million euros. The transfer contract contained the following clause:
In other words, FC Zenit would have to pay FC Barcelona the amount of 490,000 euros whenever the Russian club participated or guaranteed the possibility of participating in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, through sporting merit, as long as the player participated in at least 50% of the Russian League games which would allow, through the final classification achieved that year, to participate in the Champions League in the following season.
