State Budget 2024: propagandist or effective?
Nuno Oliveira Santos comments on several aspects of the State Budget for 2024. Among them the "Mais Habitação" package, the increase in the minimum wage, the end of the non-habitual resident regime.
In the final stretch of 2023, the Government is preparing to present the State Budget for 2024 and, among the enormous volume of measures included there, sounds of change in the taxation of income and assets echo.
We saw that with the “Mais Habitação” package, an attempt was made, whether happily or unfortunately, to combat the increase in housing prices, both in terms of rental and purchase. However, with an absolute majority in the Assembly of the Republic, the Government can carry out its fiscal and public finance strategy – relieving the IRS tax burden, as the main focus – and this is exactly what the State Budget for 2024 will seek to achieve.
