Copyright & Media

The advent of technology and digital media has revolutionized the creation and distribution of content, giving rise, alongside traditional cultural areas, to a growing diversification of formats and communication channels, from social media to streaming. This phenomenon is associated with new media, which are fundamentally based on copyright/related rights.

This is an innovative, cross-border market that is constantly changing, with increasingly specific and challenging legislation.

The trend towards blurring boundaries is clearly evident in copyright and related rights, given their growing involvement in digital and technology. Audiovisual media, but also music, cinema, press, and television, are a prime example of this.

PRA therefore offers a specialized service in the field of Copyright/Related Rights and Media, based on solid specific training and more than twenty years of experience in the area.

Through its Copyright & Media Economic Unit, PRA offers its clients a highly specialized consulting service, as well as experienced legal or arbitration support. This takes into account the specificities of each sector of activity, providing clients with all the tools they need to ensure compliance with the law and the defense of their rights.

PRA provides support, namely in the following areas:

  • Cross-cutting action in all matters involving copyright and/or related rights, namely in the negotiation, registration, and defense of such rights, aiming at both the protection and exploitation of the most varied types of intellectual works (in physical and digital environments);
  • Drafting contracts/agreements and specific legal opinions;
  • Litigation or arbitration related to all copyright and related rights;
  • Developing due diligence related to copyright and related rights;
  • Monitoring legislative changes in the field of copyright and related rights at national and European level;
  • In advising, negotiating, and contracting with companies and professionals in the media field, particularly in the television, press, and audiovisual sectors, digital platforms, and content creation and distribution;
  • In supporting technological areas, particularly in the field of cybercrime, artificial intelligence, blockchain, and digital content regulation.
